Birmingham City University - Mix Unique Trend Forecasts

Interiors Birmingham is proud to present an exciting collaboration between the Birmingham City University and Global Color Research - mix publications.

Birmingham City University will offer a new creative twist to Global Color’s Trends Forecast with the installation of 4 trend pavilions produced by their MA and BA students from interior, textile and product design.  Aimed to engage and inspire the imagination this highly visual display seeks to stretch and engage individuals who want to appreciate the future trends for interiors.

To complete the trend forecast offering Global Color Research - mix publications will also be presenting trend forecast seminars within The Seminar Theatre on Monday 19th at midday and 2pm.

Material lab Material lab

A key offering of the Interiors Hub, to be seen outside of London for the first time, is the award winning Material Lab.
In January 2006 H & R Johnson, leading manufacturer and supplier of ceramic tiles in the UK, created and opened the design resource centre in London. Replicated at interiors Birmingham will be an offering for designers and architects - an environment where products such as ceramics, glass, wallpaper, carpet tiles, trims, eco-resins, fabrics and many more materials can be explored with expect advice on hand.

DesignersBlock and friends are back for 2009! This year the world renowned exhibition curators will be showcasing furniture, lighting, and textiles providing an optimistic glimpse at the trends and trend makers.

Gathering 30 new and emerging designers at the cutting edge of the game, all commercially active and hitting the industry as we speak.

Featured designers and designer brands include, Arabeschi Di Latte, Caroline Saul, Ercol, Haidee Drew, Jo Angell, Kathy Schicker, Re-Silicone, Seung-Kwan No, SCP, Sophie Hedderwick, Studio Roam, Timorous Beasties, Tea un Kim.

Design Britain Design Britain

This year DESIGN BRITAIN will feature work by the key protagonists and design icons from the 1930’s to present day. The exhibition will feature work by some of the UK’s leading designers including, Robin & Lucien Day, Earnest Race, Kenneth Grange, Jasper Morrison, Ed Barber & Jay Osgerby and new talents Ed Carpenter and Alexander Taylor.

The exhibition will consist of a timeline with some of the key products and people throughout the last 70 plus years.

A packed seminar programme: featuring renowned industry lights such as Elle Decoration, Global Color Research, IKEA and many more.

Young Designer 2009 Young designers 2009

The top twelve entries will have their work display on the Cabinet Maker stand in Hall 5 at Interiors Birmingham 18-21 January 2009, NEC Birmingham. Initial judging will take place at the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers in London in October.

The Young Designers Awards, sponsored by Cabinet Maker magazine in collaboration with The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers enters its 10th year.
The finalists will be featured in Cabinet Maker magazine and at www.cabinet-maker.co.uk.

The Lighting Association Lighting excellence awards

This year, The Lighting Association will team up with its sponsors Total Lighting and Interiors Birmingham to re-launch the industry’s Product Awards. A prestigious panel of judges includes top Lighting retailers, an ex-finalist of the Lighting Student Design Awards, Editor of Total Lighting Magazine Lyndsey Hubbard, and Peter Hunt from the Lighting Association.
