The Print Room, Bournemouth

The Print Room is the overhauled former printing floor of the Bournemouth Echo on the ground floor of the newspaper’s Grade II listed Seal and Hardy building on Richmond Hill. The new interior celebrates the original 1930s architecture, exploiting the generous space and restoring the drama of the building in an opulent interior. Accessed via Ink Bar, the restaurant occupies a dramatic 7m tall 370 sqm space, entered via retrofitted reeded glass double doors. The interior combines dark wood dining enclosures and a mirror backed bar with monochrome tiles,
opulent Swarovski crystal chandeliers and contemporary cut glass shades, providing a flexible and striking dining space for occupation at all times of day. The project was awarded Best New Interior in the British Design Awards 2008. The project as applauded for the cultural contribution it has made to Bournemouth. |

Consumer trends, how to spot the next big thing

Michelle was appointed Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Decoration in May 2004, a relationship with the magazine thats 11 years long and counting! In September 2007 she launched ELLE Decoration Collections, an annual guide to the worlds best new designs, and in August 2007 she was appointed Editor in Chief of Real Homes magazine (a position she holds in addition to her editorship of ELLE Decoration) masterminding its re-launch in January 2008.
Trained as an architect, she began her career assisting the renowned art historian turned television presenter Tim Marlow on the launch of Tate Art Magazine. It was a short hop across the Wordsearch publishing house to Blueprint Magazine (then edited by Deyan Sudjic, currently director of Londons Design Museum) where she rose to the position of Senior Editor in less than three years. Her energy and enthusiasm led to her being headhunted by style guru Ilse Crawford to join ELLE Decoration as its Features Director. As Michelle puts it, It was time to start getting a more mainstream audience excited about design.?
