Champagne Bar
Designersblock, with an unrivalled reputation in staging challenging design focused shows, will deliver the Interiors Trend Forecast at the front of Hall 6. Using a team of some of the most exciting names shaping the design world today, including Simon Waterfall of Poke and Deputy President of the D&AD, Charlie Davidson, Russell Pinch, Blanka, Duncan Riches of Associates and Richard Seebrook, will deliver their interpretation of the very latest trends influencing the interiors industry for 2008/09. Explore the impact of ethical, ecological and environmental influences fused with inspiring responses in product design, texture and colour.
A dynamic, entertaining, inspiring and informative interactive space for visitors within Interiors Birmingham.
The Source - an area in Hall 4 will provide a unique interactive environment showcasing interesting new products, companies and people, with a strong emphasis on activities within the UK. The focus will be on 4 key areas of:- Design (creativity and business), Make (technology & materials), World (environment & sustainability) and Life (directional trends, lifestyle & influences). A variety of specialist companies, organisations and individuals will be contributing and supporting this celebration of the extraordinary range of skills, talent and creativity, within our furniture, interior and creative industries.
The Source will:
o Inspire visitors, exhibitors and the industry and encourage a creative and economic regeneration of our market place.
o Inform - providing information regarding developments in design, technology, environmental issues and lifestyle influences.
o Promote the work of talented up and coming companies and designers, while acknowledging the traditions of craftsmanship and innovation that are inherent in our industrial and social history.
o Connect companies, organisations and individuals and foster new and creative collaborations.
o Develop a unique event within Interiors Birmingham that will literally be The Source, in terms of practical information, ideas, products, inspiration and creative energy.
There will also be smaller Source Pods, situated within the surrounding halls showcasing exhibitors products and developing the ideas and themes of the main Source area.
Design Britain is not to be missed. Celebrating British design, past, present, highlighting the iconic designs, designers and manufacturers that have shaped the British design landscape.
World of British Design - Design Britain will feature on the walls of the show entrances, boasting content from names such as Robin Day, Tom Dixon, Ross Lovegrove, Edward Barber and Jasper Morrison. An exhibition of design icons will also feature in the Hall 8/9 linkway to stimulate debate and distil what British Design has to offer.
The Eco Trail will take visitors through the event, focusing on exhibitors who have ecologically produced products. Recycled materials, fair-trade and sustainability are all factors that are included in the criteria for an eco-friendly product, and with the increasing need for companies and individuals to reduce their carbon footprint, this is a fantastic way to promote the green efforts of the interiors industry.
Celebrating a wealth of fresh energy, artistry and skill, Interiors Birmingham in partnership with Designersblock brings you an opportunity to be amongst the first in the trade to see and source a brand new age in design and manufacturing from commercially active new talent. Designer Showcase will take place in Design Interiors, Hall 6.
Young Designers
Judges for the Young Designer of the Year 2008 have short listed 13 hopefuls from more than 100 entries to make it to the stand at Interiors Birmingham where one designer will take the crown. A number of the nominees are already causing a stir in the design world: Giles Wilson-Copp picked up 100% Futures winner at the New Designers exhibition in July; Jason Heaps table has appeared in The Telegraph and The Observer design supplements, and Tomas Alonsos designs were installed in the Design Museum caf as part of its Designers in Residence programme. Majid Asifs products were selected by the founder of Icon magazine to be exhibited at Libertys store, and was one of 50 design graduates to have products on display at The Oxo Tower.

Celebrating a wealth of fresh energy, artistry and skill, Interiors Birmingham brings you an opportunity to be amongst the first in the trade to see and source a brand new age in design and manufacturing from commercially active new talent.
A series of four Shop Windows pods will feature through the event, linking all of the halls of Interiors Birmingham together through product.
Each Shop Window will follow a theme demonstrating the use of different colour palettes, textures and surfaces to create distinctive and inspirational ship windows and interiors.
Hall 3 Shop Window Using a simple yet striking colour contract of black and white as an ideal clean and also backdrop to add texture with a chalky basalt effect and contrasting clean lacquered surfaces.
Hall 1 Shop Window Will take opulence from Japanese art using pink, red and subtle aqua tones with soft, rich felt and velvet textures to compose a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Hall 8 Shop Window Using natural, white and silver hues with shall, resin, greenery and mirrored surfaces to create a futuristic twist.
Hall 5 Shop Window A strong and vibrant pod using a multicolour palette of orange, lime, pink, lilac, aqua and yellow resulting in a funky pop art inspired display. Each Shop Window pod will also link back to the findings of The Source again offering a hands-on studio/workshop environment set to inspire.
This beautiful, contemporary dining room will serve an appetising array of English breakfasts, traditional roast dinners and other mouth-watering English dishes including Bangers and Mash and Fish and Chips. All finished off with some waist enlarging puddings such as Rhubarb Crumble and Custard.

Back for 2008 will be the ever popular Seminar Theatre. A packed and exciting programme will combine practical CPD sessions with trend forecasts. New for this year, Interiors Birmingham have teamed up with Designersblock to tap into a wide spectrum of expertise. Designersblock and friends will share their expertise on Monday 21st January, offering anyone in the interior world an unmissable insight into the work and thinking of this world renowned collaboration of designers. Also featuring in The Seminar Theatre will be Jennifer Castoldi Chief Executive at Trendease and the Chief Executive of Varier Furniture, who will discuss combining design and comfort. BIDA, The Lighting Association and Total Lighting Magazine will also cover the hot topics affecting our industry in 2008.
Four roomsets have been put together as a collection of indulgent experiences?, a never to be forgotten memory, representing various aspects of top end boutique hotels or stand alone commercial situations.
Restaurant
Following the Retreat trend this roomset will bring together the concepts of sustainable living / buying locally, minimizing the carbon footprint, whilst still containing a luxurious feel a combination of traditional elements and colours such as wood, marquetry and vibrant greens with a touch of synthetic bling.
Bar
Using bright colours from the Younique trend to create a fun, energetic, vibrant area, this bar roomset will focus on the use of lighting and lighting effects to create different atmospheres. A destination for social interaction, pleasure and amusement.
Hotel Room
The feel of this room is shear opulent luxury that allows you to escape reality using the rich colours of the Re-affirming and Biological Identity trends. This space will be over the top extravagance and lavishness, a once in a lifetime experience, but not to the point of being brash.
Salon
Taking inspiration from the move for retail space to be de-cluttered and simplified, this space will have a sense of ethereal light and volume represented by the Suspend trend. The focus is on the use of hard architectural textures throughout with injections of hot colour and soft finishes to provide the juxtaposition of ice and warmth.
Fabric at Interiors Birmingham
Design Interiors, hall 6 of Interiors Birmingham presents the UK's largest gathering of fabric suppliers including companies such as GP & J Baker, James Brindley of Harrogate, English Home, Pongees, Kandola, Elanbach, Daniel James Fabrics, Warwick Fabrics, Nono Designs, Prestigious Textiles and Macnaughton Holdings, offering visitors an unrivalled opportunity to see feel and touch the latest trends and direction in fabric for the coming seasons.

New for 2008, The Champagne Bar will be designed by GP & J Baker presenting their latest ranges and providing a truly luxe environment in which to enjoy the very latest directions in fabric and review the beautifully edited surrounds of Design Interiors,
