Interiors Birmingham 2008 proved once again that the year begins at the NEC. The interiors industry came out in force to source product for 2008 from the industry’s flagship event.

With eight separate product areas, all this year under the single Interiors Birmingham umbrella, the event catered to the full spectrum of retailers, architects and specifiers.

Sitting alongside the show’s core events – Furniture, Furnishing Accessories, Soft, Lighting, Lighting Collection, Collection, Outdoor Collection and Design Interiors – were a series of features designed to heighten the visitor experience and help improve buying decisions.

This year's highlights included:

-Seminar sessions from leading industry figures, including Jennifer Castoldi of Trendease, delegates from FIRA, and Chapman Bathurst, helping attendees predict market changes in 2008 and adapt in an evolving marketplace.
-Cabinet Maker Young Designer of the Year 2008, introducing the next generation of designers. In the last two years, winners have gone on to work with several of the top UK manufacturers as well as Heal’s, Habitat and others. All 13 of the short-listed entries presented their products at the event. Jason Heap picked up the first prize for his Infinity + one table.
-The Design Italia area gave visitors an exclusive opportunity to see the latest ranges from leading Italian brands including Zanotta, Armobil, Gervasoni and Verardo.
-Designersblock presented the interiors trends for 2008/9
-The Source inspired, informed, promoted and connected the furniture, interior and creative industries
-Eco trail  - highlighted the suppliers committed to reducing their carbon footprint
-Design Britain, showcased the wealth of products either designed or manufactured in the UK and culminated in a debate about the finest UK design.
